Stix
Stix is a total class act. He can play a variety of different styles with equal dexterity. He is dynamic, tasteful and smooth beyond belief. A real pleasure to work with... In 1963, Stix joined a Polka Band in South Dakota with Leo Welk, Lawrence Welk’s cousin. In 1965 he joined the blues band, The Blaze’s, in Minnesota. In Denver (1967) Stix played with the Benny Wilson Trio @ Sonny Liston’s Club called the Horizon. He then joined Horace Henderson, the younger brother of Fletcher Henderson who was Benny Goodman’s arranger. He then moved to Las Vegas to join The New People. After that he was in the house band for the Sands, The Dunes, and The Frontier where he was in the back-up band for the Rat Pack, Sammy Davis, Jr. , Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Dale and Joey Bishop, among many others. He was in the original movie "Not Fade Away" as the drummer at the Apollo Theatre with Gary Busey. He also played linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos. He came back to MS to play the King of Kings with Jean Crowe, and also played with Gary Smith, Souladelics, Mind Probe, Stix and the Family Stones, and later joined Funky Flavor i0n 1972 which now is KABANA.
