Mike Wheeler
__________________ Mike has been playing bass guitar for years in a number of different bands...Leonard Michael was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. He began his musical training at age ten with the piano. He eventually picked up the guitar and he and band mate, Lucky Kelson, started their first band, The Thunderbird Five. With a name like that they were destined for greatness. Leonard enjoyed local success in a number of Florida bands; The Last Straw, Russell-Garcia-Wheeler, Wildwood, and the Instant Daddios. He also hit the road with a couple of Texas groups, Circus and The Sunrise Band, both out of Houston. He attended art schools in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and Atlanta, GA before moving to Meridian in 1989 as an art director at Peavey Electronics, where he remained for almost 13 years. He’s also a songwriter. For several years Leonard and close friend and co-writer John Nanni have been writing, demo-ing and shopping their songs in Nashville. They have several tunes currently on hold with a few Nashville big guns. You may hear one in the near future. Leonard is the bassist, and lead vocalist for the group Kabana. His major influences are The Beatles, The Stones, and that whole early sixties era, along with plenty of jazz, dixieland, and big band, introduced to him by his dad very early on. But he also keeps an open mind to all music. As Duke Ellington once said, "If it sounds good, it IS good." He currently lives in Meridian with his wife and two sons. _____________ Contact:
